Warm and Fuzzy Plants

What's softer than a Teddy Bear and sticks around longer than candy and cut flowers?  Kalanchoes!  It was plants again this year for Valentine's Day.  Fuzzy ones.

Kalanchoe Tomentosa, those dark leaf edges are so distinctive.


Kalanchoe Beharensis 'Fang'.  It looks quite benign compared to its name.


So soft, with crinkly brown edges.



The kalanchoes are from Yeya's and were grown by a lady in Mexico whose son brings them up to San Antonio to sell.   They weren't labeled so I looked them up; let me know if you disagree with my conclusion.

I did get a rose for Valentine's Day.  This 'Ambience' container rose on the deck bloomed just in time for the big day.


Our tradition of having at least one rose blooming on Valentine's Day is still going strong.

    Oh, I love those Panda Plants! I have a large one that is very sweet and fuzzy. Perfect for Valentine's Day.

      Rose in the singular although the knock-outs have had multiple blooms in January there aren't any now. The blooms are much slower for sure this time of year. Need to decide when to prune because there are so many buds about to form.

    I keep seeing more and more kalanchoes, that I really like. I didn't realize there were so many.

    Roses blooming now....wow! Not here. We were 28 again, this morning, in this low spot. I'm ready for these quick-freeze mornings to be over.

      You are more than 10 degrees colder there. That is chilly, I'm ready for it to be warmer overnight so I can put all the plants out.

    Nice tradition your Death Star brings you.....so early! Kalanchoe sounds good to me on the mystery plant.

      I hope the Death Star stays moderately warm for a little while longer. We will have plenty of heat later.
