Seasonal Celebrations: From Fall to Winter

Fall colors usually arrive much later in San Antonio than in more northern regions.  This year it seems later than ever so we can combine fall color with holiday cheer.  Last week I attended an event at the San Antonio Botanical Garden and found both in abundance.  I'm linking with Donna at  Gardens Eye View for Seasonal Celebrations to show off how we enjoy two seasons at once.

The Carriage House entrance is ready for the holidays.  There are many changes in the works for the San Antonio Botanical Garden and construction is underway for a new entrance that will accommodate larger crowds.

Indoors and out for Foliage Follow-up day January 2013

For January's Foliage Follow-up Day sponsored by Pam Penick at Digging I'm giving a tour of the garage.  The garage?  January is challenging because much of the foliage in the yard is brown, tan, or non-existent.   It's been cold for San Antonio, dipping down to freezing or just below for several nights in a row and my tender foliage plants have been sent to the garage for a few weeks.  We'll visit them there to see how they're doing.

The sanseverias, strelitzia, and the spathiphyllum are waiting patiently by the window for better days in the spring.

Plant ABC's: B is for Brugmansia

The "ABC's of plants in my garden" series continues with Brugmansia.

There's something about those large beautiful trumpet blooms emerging from scrawny stems topped with average looking leaves that makes Brugmansia special.
