Let's take a peek at the Easter basket and see what's blooming this holiday weekend.
Bougainvillea
Our version of Easter Island, the face pot in the front garden with Salvia 'Indigo Spires'.
This week I put another egg in the basket by adding a third Golden Barrel (Echinocactus grunsonii) to the existing two in the hellstrip. Massing golden barrels is egg-actly right for this spot.
Coral bloom spikes of Hesperaloe parviflora with Agave ovatifolia and Nobilis bismarckia as neutrals.
Native Damianita blooming with bright yellow daisy-like flowers would make a good hiding place for Easter eggs.
The Mexican Flame Vine (Senecio confusus) has donned a stunning Easter bonnet.
The bonnet matches her dress
Happy Easter! Have a bright and colorful weekend!
Your garden looks beautiful! The Bougainvillea flowers always remind me of Fiesta crepe flowers. I think I'm in love with your Mexican Flame Vine - gorgeous! Happy Easter to you:)
ReplyDeleteFiesta is on its way, so very appropriate.
DeleteYou have so much blooming!
ReplyDeleteMy Mexican Flame Vine, doesn't know if it's coming or going. Every time it puts on new growth, there's another freeze and it gets burned back. Yours is gorgeous.
Maybe...after this next cold front...the freezes will be over.
Have a very Happy Easter.
That's amazing you are still getting freezes just an hour north of here. The Mexican Flame Vine seems picky about the cold.
DeleteHappy Easter to you Shirley! Your garden is gorgeous and I especially like the picture with the huge agave and bismarkia nobilis!
ReplyDeleteThank you outlaw! The agave and palm are payback for all those beautiful plants you show on your blog that I can't grow here.
DeleteOur little egg hunters must cope with mud, but your spiny eggs would be a greater challenge. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteYes, Easter egg hunting is a challenge in south Texas. We learn early how to avoid the cactus!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous Mexican Flame Vine! Love that bright color! Happy Easter! :)
ReplyDeleteShe has outdone herself this year I think.
DeleteLet me add to the chorus of enthusiasm for the Mexican flame. What a traffic stopper. Happy easter to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Patrick! She's not visible from the road and maybe that's a good thing.
DeleteThe Mexican Flame Vine is a must-have, if I were to venture to the land of the death star. I like the way your rock works in the golden barrel scene, nice!
ReplyDeleteI'll take that as a "thumbs up" from the rock and gravel master. I interpreted the patterns of rock placement in the creek behind the house using rocks from the yard. Pea gravel replaced the DG due to weeds.
DeleteYour garden is full of spring delight. I particularly like those golden barrel cacti which are so foreign in my neck of the woods. You highlight them beautifully.
