Having no idea what I would post for
Foliage Follow-up until this afternoon, I spotted this scene as I drove up Broadway, a major thoroughfare in San Antonio. Quickly cutting (safely) over a couple of lanes to make a quick right, I rolled to a stop and snapped away with my new pocket camera.
I had noticed it a number of times and even thought to stop "sometime". Sometime was today and isn't this fun?

Is that an Agave or a Yucca with the stripes in front of the stripey billboard? It's a great shot, whatever it is. Thanks for stopping.
ReplyDeleteIt's an Agave Americana var. marginata which I should have mentioned in the post. They are very common here but probably not so much most other places.
DeleteThis service station has got it going on. I love those marginata agaves. I had one in my old garden but not in my current. I need to remedy that.
ReplyDeleteIt is a head turner every time. They are a bit less hardy than the silver or green but they add so much to the garden in terms of color.
DeleteI want that green barrel planter. Good for several Aloe arborescens, I'm thinking...

DeleteMaybe that shop is a "workplace" but obviously somebody understood that didn't mean it had to be ugly. Great use of color and boy, are they ever working those stripes to advantage. I was tickled to note the agave has been neatly trimmed. We may be among the latest but we aren't only ones sharing the agave love.

I enjoy the little ways folks brighten up their spaces. The agave is along a sidewalk near a University and park so they keep it safe.
