Flaps popped up alongside every mailbox in our neighborhood yesterday as they so every year at this time. In another hour, there will be fireworks flying over the LA harbor and all across the sky. (I can already hear the steady patter of the illegal ones and can only pray for a fire and accident-free holiday.) Best wishes for a happy 4th, Shirley!
