We call our home "Casa Zorro" because zorro is the Spanish word for fox (our last name) and I love to collect fox items for the house so knowing there are foxes visiting the yard is extra special.
It was sooo pretty and looked sweet just sitting there watching me. I think it was after the golf balls we keep out for practice in the backyard. Foxes think they are eggs and carry them away. Gray foxes are especially curious and this one seemed to be.
Finally having enough the fox turned and headed down into the creek.
I hope this fox is a regular visitor.
A special request.....
You have an opportunity to help the Warrior and Family Support Center win $2,000 in plants from High Country Gardens for the healing and therapy gardens where I volunteer each week. Please go to this link and vote for Returning Heroes Home. Voting ends Monday October 14th.
To learn more about the gardens for the wounded warriors you can read my posts beginning here.
Thank you for your help.
What a fantastic garden visitor. It's just fabulous that you got to see this fox. Maybe it will return soon.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed I managed to get the photos I was so excited. The gray fox is native to our area and does not cause the same problems introduced species do in Australia.
DeleteI voted. Good luck. I hope the Returning Heroes Home wins.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Abbey!
DeleteDone. Good luck! It looks like a great organization with a wonderful mission.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kris!
DeleteDo you think he knows he is your namesake? Whatever...he posed nicely for you, and we are the beneficiaries.
ReplyDeleteHow fitting to see a Fox in your garden:) Nice that you were able to capture the moment. I voted! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteAw, what a cutie! I hope he returns again and again.
ReplyDeleteA handsome fellow indeed. I hope he frequently thrills you with his presence! Happy to lend my vote to the center where you volunteer!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lovely visitor! And his tale with black line is cute:) Hope he'll be back! I voted, too;-)
ReplyDeleteNice to see small carnivores instead of (big) herbivores, I bet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute fox, coming and going! The orange ears and black tail stripe are special. Perhaps he will eat some rodents for you, if you have pests like I do. I've seen a coyote only twice here in the last 20 years. I saw a fox once by my canyon home in San Diego. It's nice to have a creek close by to attract wildlife.
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat!!!!!! Hope he comes back!!
ReplyDeleteCutie! ...did foxy return yet?
ReplyDeleteI voted - good luck y'all !
I love the link of your name to your garden and now this critter. We love fox too and are visited by red fox from time to time. I just got my vote in under the wire :)
ReplyDeleteYou were so lucky to be able to capture the moment! I don't even keep my cell phone outside. We have rattlesnakes, rat snakes, road runner birds, Tarantula spiders, scorpions, possums, raccoons, rabbits and wild hogs here in Helotes. No deer in my neighborhood, surprisingly! And I supposedly live in an Urban setting, with cable TV and everything! LOL. Sadly, there is a lone squirrel taking bites out of my vegetables in my garden.
ReplyDeleteLet us know if our voting helped.
How cool is that! I haven't seen a fox in years, but I'm pretty sure they are out there. That's why we built our chicken coop as secure as Fort Knox. Everything likes chicken and eggs. Tasty.
