Hall-o-scream!

Last year for Halloween I posted about our neighbor's cat Patches.  Patches continues to visit the garden and this year I have a few more photos that are just too good not to post.

She's at the back door trying to look scary.  Looks scary?

Not really, it's dinnertime and she wants in.

Looking this way

and that way following me through the door.  She just wants to see what's going on.  No, I don't feed her.  We let her nice owners take care of that.

Hey it's raining out here!

As I was writing this post she hopped up on the bench outside my office window.  Not creepy, no not one bit!

She managed to climb the tree to get a better look.

A sweetheart through and through.

In other Halloween news, Melody first spotted this fox mask at Kate Spade in New York and sent a photo.  Of course I loved it!

She was recently in Portland to pick up an award for the Healing and Therapy Gardens at the Warrior and Family Support Center where we volunteer together and the Kate Spade associates there gave her one of the masks.

She brought it back for me sooo.....

It's very cool but not comfortable at all so I'll be answering the door dressed as myself.  Thank You Melody!

Happy Halloween to all!

  1. Patches looks like the Gollum of the cat world. She seems really friendly, but she would look authentic in a scary movie. The fox mask is so cute! What a sweet friend.

    1. Gollum! Yes, I think she does. She's quite sweet and friendly unless she's hunting.

  2. That is a fascinating cat! Perfect post for Halloween. Great mask!

  3. Patches is adorable. Her behaviors have to attract your benevolent attentions because her appearance might not. How could she have any idea she looks so different from the average house cat. The two of you obviously have a great camaraderie going. Thanks for sharing your story (and that amazing mask - fit to display in a shadowbox perhaps? Good work, Melody!)

    1. She doesn't know which is an important lesson I often consider. A shadowbox would be a good idea. I'll have to look for something to use for that.

  4. Shirley, what a fun surprise to see the mask from Kate Spade! So glad you could use it for one of your post!
And that Patches!!!! What a perfect cat for Halloween! She would give me a scare if I saw her on a dark night!

    1. The next time you visit I'll see if I can round her up so you can meet Patches.

  5. Oh, I adore the mask, and Patches as well. I have a couple of Halloween masks that I put on my head planters. One of them has feathers on it, so I keep it in a protected spot where it won't get rained on. Do you have any head planters that can "wear" your fox mask and show it off to garden visitors?

    1. That's a fun idea, I might find something like that I can use.

  6. I love the mask - how perfect for you! How is it that Patches can be scary and cute at the same time? Somehow she manages.

  7. Patches looks like a true character - as Kris says, she is that very rare mix of cute and scary. The mask is very upmarket - the eyelashes are exceedingly long.

  8. Oh poor cat, I know she is meant to be like that but, poor cat.
