Two-wheelin' and cupholders with my new wheelbarrow

I received a question about my fancy wheelbarrow shown in my previous post on this year's topsoil delivery.  It is indeed fancy since it has two wheels, stabilizer bars, implement holders, and even dual cupholders -- you might say it is a "loaded" wheelbarrow, although it could use a GPS sometimes.  My wheelbarrow is new since spring 2012 when we moved a truckload of topsoil and I had trouble controlling the traditional single-wheel model.  After a couple "incidents" with tipping over on turns last year, I decided to find one better suited for my needs.  I went with the Majik wheelbarrow from Sam's Club and it's a lot more stable which made moving topsoil and just about anything else much easier for me this year.

As with cars, cupholders are so important I once decided against buying a certain car because it didn't have them.  Apparently I'm not the only one because a few years later they began to feature them for the American market.  The cupholders work pretty well unless you are loading or dumping dirt (even with a lid the drink would get dirty).

There are slots for holding tools but it's a little awkward to roll along with the tools close to my face so the slots make a good place for storing tools during breaks.  It's also lower which makes it much easier to load with a shovel.  The two wheels and stabilizers make it a bit harder to dump, but that's not as important an issue because now I can actually get the dirt to the dumping spot without losing it.

So that's the scoop on my new wheelbarrow which works great for me.  DH prefers his traditional model, but for me, two wheelin' is both safer and more fun!

  1. Very nice wheelbarrow:) Those holders would have my water:) This weekend marks the first part of pruning!!! I cannot wait to start clipping things down! My gardens are in need of a bad haircut but that snow and cold put a hold on everything:) I love spring!

  2. Wow, you've got a two wheeler! I'm glad that it works for you! I'm in the market for a wheelbarrow this spring as I'm tired of carrying soil, compost, everything in two five gallon buckets around my garden.

  3. Shirley, I didn't notice your two-wheeler in your original post. I'm glad you've pointed it out. I think men have better upper body strength and it's not as difficult for them to keep a regular wheelbarrow upright with a full load. I think if we get another one, I'm getting one like you have. Nice!

  4. I didn't notice it in your original post either. I was looking at that wonderful pile of garden soil. Living on rocks as you do nothing thrills me more than fresh dirt!

As for the wheel barrow a few years ago I finally learned to pile everything in that pertained to what I was doing in the garden at the time; plants, fertilizer, tools -- whatever. Having cup holders would be a real plus. Love your new two wheeler!

    1. We had several neighbors stop and ask about the dirt because it looked so good. I'm sure the guy got some extra business this year.

  5. I keep abandoning coffee cups here and there around the garden. What an elegant solution!

  6. I am trying to find a replacement for my Majik wheelbarrow I bought in Tupelo Ms. Which Sams Club did you get this one? They are not sold on line. I hired someone to help me in my yard and he overloaded it and split the bucket. I am lost without it.

    1. I found it last fall at a Sam's Club in San Antonio. Unfortunately I noticed they didn't have them this year. I check the garden aisle almost every visit and have not seen the Majik wheelbarrow this year at all. When I wrote this post, I expected they would continue to be available.

I'm sorry to hear yours is broken because I know I would be lost without it too. I'll be careful with mine. A neighbor needed to borrow a wheelbarrow recently for his yard crew, I'm glad I loaned him an old one.

wvhillbilly: I read your question and the it disappeared before I could reply. We couldn't find new wheels to fit either. We used a piece of plastic pipe and wheels from a golf pushcart. I will send photos if you will send another contact request.

  8. I still love my Majik after years of use. I had to replace one tire a couple of years ago at Northern Tools, but when I checked today to replace the 2nd one, they don't carry that size now. I will either get the tire and get it installed on my rim or buy 2- 15.5" ones, which is the smallest size with the larger hole. Either way, I wish Sam's still carried them.
