I do water it a little more because it is new. The one at Madrone Nursery is on a hillside and probably doesn't get a lot of water.Shirleynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6808857981868159973.post-52251470715951269892014-10-29T00:14:37.142-05:002014-10-29T00:14:37.142-05:00I've been to Madrone with a group of Austin bl...I've been to Madrone with a group of Austin bloggers. Dan is indeed passionate and a real character too! I would have been tempted by the nolina also and hope you'll post more about the one you chose. I admired the scarlet buckeye at the Wildflower Center this year but had the impression it was a streamside, moist-loving plant. Can it also take drier soils? Where do you plan to place it in your garden? It's such a beautiful plant.Pam/Digginghttp://www.penick.net/diggingnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6808857981868159973.post-14365475438417573382014-10-26T15:23:33.345-05:002014-10-26T15:23:33.345-05:00It would be great if we could find these plants mo...It would be great if we could find these plants more easily. I want more Rusty Blackhaw Viburnums. They add so much to the landscape, especially in the spring with their beautiful white flowers. Next to the Flowering Quince it will be gorgeous! Also, can't wait to see how the Scarlet Buckeyes flower this spring. Gardening always gives me something to look forward too!Melodynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6808857981868159973.post-86506460199456520302014-10-21T07:15:08.285-05:002014-10-21T07:15:08.285-05:00What a wonderful resource. As certain plants become "must haves" it will become ever more important to know the sources for local plants, and not just their names or water needs. As for native plant naysayers who claim they have a spot no native will fill? I can now point them to the over a thousand varieties of Muhly grasses available to try. As a starting point.
